Doomfist is easily one of the most anticipated heroes for Overwatch, and now he has an official release date. Though currently playable on the Overwatch PTR, Doomfist will become available to the general public in the official game on July 27, 2017.
In addition to announcing his arrival date, Blizzard released a preview video for Doomfist. It provides developer commentary and a behind-the-scenes look at the character’s development — from concept to implementation.
Doomfist is a highly-mobile, powerful frontline fighter. Officially part of the “offensive” group, Doomfist can deal ranged damage with his Handcannon, slam the ground and knock enemies into the air and off balance, or charge into the fray with his Rocket Punch. His ultimate, Meteor Strike, sees Doomfist leap into the air and then crash into the ground, dealing significant damage.
Doomfist will be added to the Overwatch roster on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on July 27, 2017.
Doomfist fires a short-range burst from the knuckles of his fist. Its ammunition is automatically regenerated over a short time.
Doomfist leaps forward and smashes into the ground, knocking nearby enemies toward him.
Doomfist uppercuts enemies in front of him into the air.
After charging up, Doomfist lunges forward and knocks an enemy back, dealing additional damage if they impact a wall.

Doomfist generates temporary personal shields when he deals ability damage.
Doomfist leaps into the sky, then crashes to the ground, dealing significant damage.
